Mary Hardy is Vice President of Operations for PrivatePlus Mortgage, a division of National Bank of Commerce. She has more than 10 years’ experience in the industry, with a diverse array of increasing responsibilities.
“Mary’s extensive experience in each aspect of the mortgage operations process gives her a great perspective to oversee our operations,” says Dan Smith, President of PrivatePlus. “While many of the functions are not always apparent to our clients, each facet of what we do affects the process and enables us to provide the level of service that is integral to our high-touch service promise.”
She holds a bachelor’s degree in leadership and management from Friends University (Mission, Kansas, Campus). Prior to working in the mortgage industry, Mary spent five years with a customer service experience company, which helps inform her work in the customer-centric mortgage field. Fun fact: After high school she worked part-time as a welder.
“An unintended consequence of increased industry regulation is that unique borrower situations are more often the norm than the exception,” Mary says, “and we have to be prepared to understand and address those efficiently and effectively, all the while maintaining our reputation as a go-to lender of choice.”
Away from work the Kansas native enjoys baking, is an avid reader, creates stained glass, and undertakes new adventures as often as possible with her boyfriend Matt. She also gives her time to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which provides funding for childhood cancer research.
Her tip for anyone seeking a mortgage? “The more information your mortgage lender has about your financial situation up front, the faster we can make a decision and you can close,” Mary says. “Ask questions. Home buying is the largest purchase most people will make, so it is fair that you should be 100 percent comfortable and confident in the process and in the mortgage lender you have chosen as your partner.”
