Spring is in the air and (if you’re anything like us) you’re probably chomping at the bit to get out of the house and do some gardening. The problem might be to figure out just where to start. Here are some of our best suggestions for how to get your garden ready this season (http://www.thegardenhelper.com/calendar/april.html).
Get rid of the weeds
Your garden probably got completely overgrown this fall and winter with weeds. If that’s the case, you can’t do anything with planting new items until you get rid of the weeds. Go in and clear out everything and be sure to aerate the soil so it will be healthy for your plants this season.
Plant summer flowers
The key to a beautiful garden is realizing you have to plan ahead. So, if you want beautiful flowers ready for the summer, plant them now. We suggest gladiola and lily bulbs or you can opt for marigolds or zinnias.
If flowers aren’t your thing but you want to get a vegetable garden going, then we suggest peas and carrots and maybe cauliflower or spinach. Berries are delicious fruits that will be perfect for dessert this summer. You can also plant root vegetables, like potatoes, which will also make for great dinner items when you grill out this summer.
